Combining The Pumpkin House & As the Crow Flies

Combining The Pumpkin House & As the Crow Flies

Steph is mixing up these two great designs into one!  The smaller sampler from As the Crow Flies by Prairie Schooler will fit into the bottom portion of The Pumpkin House by Hello From Liz Mathews with a few simple modifications, explained below :)
Steph is stitched the top portion on 32 count Stream linen from Fiber on a Whim, and is stitching the bottom portion on 32 count Cream & Sugar linen by Fiber on a Whim.
Steph stitched The Pumpkin House in the called-for DMC except for:
  • The stones in the house.  She used only WDW Pewter to fill in the stones.  The floss has different stoney shades and she didn't have to switch colors
  • The roof.  She used Silk & Colors Woods of Gold
  • The pumpkins.  She used Silk & Colors Gingersnap and Classic Colorworks Sassy Brass
To combine the patterns, you will use the same border for the bottom section of Pumpkin House with one modification.  The width of the pattern doesn't need modified, but As the Crow Flies is a bit taller than the pumpkin patch.  Extra length needs to be added, so you will need to do two more triangles in the vertical rows of the border.  The vertical border should have 11 triangles instead of 9.
To correctly place the Prairie Schooler pattern inside of the Liz Mathews border, follow this placement guide.  (Steph's stitching above does not match the pattern below -- she realized she should have stitched one stitch to the left!  Yours will be perfectly centered :)
