A gorgeous American sampler that is over 260 years old. Sarah was only nine years old when she created this beauty, that in itself is utterly mind-boggling. The sampler is mostly symmetrical except for a few flower stems. This could be stitched either way and is a personal choice. The original model was stitched with silk on linen and measured 13.25 by 13.25 inches. Judging by the design and materials little Sarah grew up in an upper-class home.
For the model, 32ct linen natural linen and DMC threads were used.
16ct Aida would be the equivalent to the linen
Stitched Area: 215 x 215 stitches, 13.5" (34.1cm) wide by 13.5" (34.1cm) high
Fabric Size: 19" (49cm) wide by 19" (49cm) high this includes a 3" (8cm) allowance on all sides for finishing or framing
Two strands of floss are used for all stitches and satin stitches by the hand area of each little person.
